Introduction

Of course you can buy instant hot chocolate in most shops. But sometimes it’s only after dinner that you decide you want a sweet hit, and cure yourself for not having bought anything. This is when that forgotten jar of Nutella comes to the fore. You may think the suggested serving size a bit mean, but it’s just enough to sate a sweet tooth, which is all this is about. Espresso cups lend a sort of elegance to something that is one step up from eating Nutella out of the jar with a spoon.

Ingredients

3/4of an espresso cupful of milk
2 tspNutella
tiny pinch of salt or dried chilli flakes, to taste (optional)

Method

Gently heat the milk in a saucepan. When warm, stir in the Nutella – stir until it dissolveds and looks like hot chocolate. Heat to your liking, but don’t let it boil. Pour back into the espresso cup you used to measure the milk.

If you want, you can add a tiny pinch of salt, or a really tiny pinch of dried chilli flakes to jazz it up.
